I get that the guy served his sentence and (unfortunately) can’t be kept in prison any longer. I get it. This is America. We can’t put him in a ring with a bunch of angry dogs who will disfigure him (face and some other important parts), but let him live after.
I get it.
But there’s no law that says a single team in the National Football League has to give him a job. I’ve been a Buffalo Bills fan since I started following football at age 13. I love them through all their Keystone Cop antics on the ball field and the lack of making the playoffs in I don’t even know how many years anymore. I love them even though they lost to the dreaded Dolphins in Buffalo on Sunday.
But if the Bills had hired Vick just to have a shot at a championship, I would have found a new team to love. I probably would be a Dolphins fan now. Some things are just not worth compromising one’s principles for.
I get that some lifelong fans just can’t bring themselves to dessert the team they love, despite Vick’s role. I get that.
What I don’t get is the people I see posting away on Facebook about how glad they are that the Eagles hired Vick. I don’t get that. I never will. And I think less of those people every time they mention Vick’s name in a positive light. It ain’t right.
