If you’re reading this after 2 in the afternoon on the day it posts, you will be reading as I’m on my way to Key West for my best friend’s wedding. I first introduced you to Ben and Melissa back in November with the infamous monster cake.
Well, they’re getting married on Saturday. On the beach in Key West. Where it is currently forecasted to be a high of 65 degrees. And that really sucks. But at least it’s supposed to be sunny.
Even though I live in Florida, it’s been a long, cold winter here. We’ve had a few breaks, but pretty much since November/December, it’s been pretty chilly and cloudy and rainy. I spent many days shivering in my office wearing layers of clothing, blankets, extra socks and running a space heater. Then they finally fixed my heat. Now, I don’t need the blanket and extra clothing, but I’m still using my space heater.
So, I was looking forward to a weekend at the beach in WAY SOUTH Florida, where it should be in the 80s at least during the first weekend in March. Usually, south Florida is much warmer than north Florida, but this Saturday, the forecast is only 2 degrees different. That means no swimming laps in the hotel pool or lounging on the beach in a bathing suit. Did I mention this sucks?
I’m driving first to Port Saint Lucie today and spending the night with friends, then on to Key West Friday morning. I’m going to seriously attempt to drive all the way home on Sunday so I can have all day Monday to relax, do laundry, grocery shop, whatever else needs to be done.
And, so, that is my humble and boring update on my life. I guess the blog ideas aren’t flowing quite as well as I hoped, but I promise I’ll try to get better as the weeks go on. Don’t expect much from me this weekend. It may be cold, but it’s still vacation!

For someone (me) that just spent an hour freezing their bum off while their strong-willed daughter played in the sand box because it looks nice outside – 65 sounds lovely.
Have a great time!
